Chant with me. If you've ever participated in a yoga class, you may have chanted om. Sometimes I make my kids do this to clear their minds and redirect thier actions (so they stop fighting in the car...it works btw). Its a fantastic way to clear your mind. So lets clear our minds of all the buzz words: seo, social media, inbound marketing, blah de blah blah blah.

Ok so now that we've cleared our minds and we're stepping away from the buzz, lets talk about 3 ways that we can deliver marketing with purpose and stop focusing so much energy on buzz.

1. Really, REALLY love what you are marketing. Sounds simple right? Well, for some it is, for others it isn't. When you really love what you do, you have no problem promoting it in a non-cheezy way. For me, its web development, design and inbound marketing consulting. For others it might be selling window replacement, it might be running a crossfit box. Whatever it is, love it and you won't feel bad about pushing it, you'll feel like you're doing the world a favor by telling everyone about it (and you will be)!

2. Stay the course. Focus. Deliver. Have you heard about the shiny-object syndrome? Well, I have it. Many people do. We see something new. We want it. We have to have that shiny new object. Stop grabbing new things. Stay the course on one objective and deliver. Come up with a plan and stay the course. It will pay off.

3. Be still and listen. My clients ask really smart questions. Answering their questions, I can in turn share that information with others because others are bound to have the same questions, right? By listening and answering you are doing a great service to them and many others. What a joy in sharing!

So, keep the buzz at bay, remember some basic principles and deliver your marketing with purpose!
