Social Media Training - Blogging - part 1 of 5
So often clients ask me, what is social media? The way I like to describe it is that it is a tool for delivering your message. There are quite a few parts to it, but in this series, I will concentrate on 5 parts: blogging, twitter, facebook, linked in and email marketing. Today we will start with blogging.
The first question I always get is "Why is blogging important?".
First and foremost: If you want your website to show up in the top pages of a web search you have to blog.
Websites like bing, google, and yahoo crawl your site periodically. If they "see" new content, your site will rank higher. Creating new and pertinent information on your website consistently will help your site rank higher, making it more likely that it will be found.
Second: Blogging allows compaines to relate to your customers in a more personal way.
You can use your blog to answer questions that are asked frequently. You can provide valuable information to them. You can relate to them without having them feel like they are being "sold" to.
Third: Your content reach is limitless.
As long as your blog article is online, it can be read forever. You may write a "how to" article today and someone may find it a year later. That provides a ton of value to your customer not to mention increasing your traffic and your profile across the web, impacting your overall search rankings.
Finally: Establish credibility.
Blogging on a consistent basis will help you to establish credibility in your market and with your customer base.
So, as you can see, blogging can help with your search engine ranking, can establish credibility and can provide real value to your customers and potential customers!
